En buenas manos

We believe the foundations of a phenomenal study abroad experience begin with health and safety. With the wellbeing of our students at the forefront of everything we do, SIS provides various services, including insurance, counseling, accommodations, and on-call communications to best support students.

*TCCSevilla is a member of the professional organization of American university programs in Spain, APUNE, “the oldest association in Europe dedicated to the needs of American university programs abroad (founded 1968). APUNE (Associación de Programas Universitarios Norteamericanos en España) is a cultural, not-for-profit organization that seeks to both further and facilitate international exchange between the U.S. and Spain.” The director of SIS regularly attends APUNE general informational meetings and is in frequent contact with APUNE, which in turn is charged with monitoring the situation in Spain as it relates to American students studying in the country, including threats to public safety, such as disease outbreaks, civil unrest, terrorist activity, traumatic weather events or any event that might represent a danger to foreign students in Spain.

Cell Phones

For safety and communication SIS requires all students to have a functioning cell phone with access to international calling and data. There are two options for students to fulfill this requirement:

International Plan: Acquire an international data and calling plan from a U.S. carrier to use with your personal cell phone and SIM card while abroad

  • This option allows for use of financed and unlocked phones
  • Rates vary depending on carrier

Local Spanish Plan: With the guidance of our Spain staff during your first days in Sevilla you can acquire a local SIM card with international calling and data from a Spanish carrier to use with your personal cell phone while abroad

  • This option requires your cell phone be unfinanced and unlocked by U.S. carrier
  • Rates vary depending on carrier, typically 10-20 euro a month
  • SIM cards and phone plans are pre-paid and do not require a contract
  • Most common option selected by students
