Our Story

Trinity first opened Semester In Spain’s doors way back in 1978. We can hardly believe we’ve been working for over 40 years to provide a high-quality study abroad program. Since the beginning we’ve welcomed well over 3,000 students from more than 250 colleges and universities.

During the first 25 years, SIS was located at the Windsor School in a neighborhood called Los Remedios, not far from our current location. Three of our faculty members—Dr. José Maria Navarro, Carmen Suarez, and Ana Llamazares—began teaching in the early 1980’s, and Salvador Gallego de la Rosa, our newest full-time faculty member, joined in 1999.

Eventually we outgrew our location at the Windsor School, so in 2002 we moved to a new space—Acento de Trinity—in the cultural heart of Seville. It was then that a new director, Leslie Routman, joined us.  Ana Bello and Mercedes, our office staff,  also joined us in 2002. We enjoyed our location on Paseo de Cristina, just a short walk from the famous gothic Catedrál, the Alcázar palace, the Torre del Oro, and many other landmarks, but in the summer of 2015 we felt it was time to move again.

Our new location, TCCSevilla, is located on Calle Lagar, a cobble-stoned traffic-free street in the heart of the city. We are now occupying a traditional Sevillian building with a roof-top patio where our students will enjoy panoramic views of the city.  The nearby Plaza del Salvador and its historic church, the Metropol Parasol (aka the “Setas”), great shopping on adjacent streets and numerous cafes and restaurants will provide our students with plenty of choices to fill their free time.

Each semester and summer term, José, Carmen, Salva, Leslie, Ana, and the rest of the staff welcome 30-55 new students to an intensive study of Spanish language, culture, and history within a nurturing and supportive Christian community. We hope you’ll be one of those students.
